About
Sushicrowd is an otaku pop-culture multimedia label that specializes in performing arts, anime solutions, and fanservices. Started in 2001 as Neo-Sushi Alliance, an unofficial otaku club in Coral Springs, Florida, members of NSA had a vision to promote their favorite fandoms to the mainstream. These fandoms generally became anime, manga, video games, J-pop, and independent alternative rock. The NSA was originally founded by Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School alumni, Christian Lalinde, who frequently goes by the alias Sephi Hakubi today. Sephi had a much greater vision of Sushicrowd, knowing that there are much more fandoms to explore and promote for fans yet to be cultured. After graduating in 2004, the NSA would no longer be able to maintain contact since many members are forced to go their separate ways; however, this did not stop Sephi’s vision to establish and fulfill the mission of Sushicrowd: “To enhance, promote, and influence otaku pop-culture for our fans and creations for our artists.” After enlisting in the US Armed Forces, Sephi was fated to live in Honolulu, Hawaii for 3 years where anime culture would greatly flourish at that time. Sephi rebranded the Neo-Sushi Alliance organization as the multimedia label known today as Sushicrowd. This time, Sushicrowd did not just unite anime fans together towards a common ground, but allowed a collaboration of performing and visual artist to come together and produce incredible works, events, and projects.
In the last 10 years, Sushicrowd has evolved incrementally to improve it’s distribution of otaku products and services since previous stages and has gained much success in the anime fandom community. Sushicrowd has been responsible for producing 2 complete internet video series, supporting production for an animated series, staffing and documenting over 20 anime conventions, performing a number of musical events, participating in numerous cosplay photoshoots, and getting collaborated groups and people over. Many Sushicrowd members also carry specific expertise on numerous subjects related to anime fandom such as Anime Music Videos, Ball-Jointed Dolls, Cosplay, Information Technology, Visual Art/Graphic Design, and specific anime series and genres. Right now, Sushicrowd’s objectives have been two-fold; we continue to produce original content for the promotion of otaku culture; in addition, augment events and organizations with anime solutions and fanservices to provide a complete package for many fandom experiences.
